Program Summary for the Certificate in
Producing Well Performance

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Outlines the basic components of the producing system: reservoir, wellbore, and surface flow-control equipment. Explains the interrelated nature of these components from the perspective of the production engineer. Presents the fundamentals of gas-lift and pump-assisted artificial lift techniques, discussing various surface and subsurface equipment configurations and basic design techniques.
BACKGROUND LEARNING:
Complete the following IPIMS.ep Background Learning courses:
  1. Fluid Flow and the Production System
  2. Artificial Lift Methods
ACTION LEARNING:
Complete the following simulated job assignments:
  1. Flowing Well Performance and Production System Analysis - Establish Inflow Performance Relationship (IPR) and determine flowing well potential. Use systems analysis approach to predict and optimize production.

  2. Artificial Lift Methods - Determine need for artificial lift. Evaluate and design system.

RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT:

Submit a short (3 to 5 page) original paper of publishable quality devoted to some aspect of Producing Well Performance. Include one or more recommendations for applying technology, better operating practices or improved business practices within your company. Alternatively, you may prepare a research report summarizing recent developments in technology, business or management practices, with references, that will be of interest to your management. Your IHRDC mentor must approve the assignment topic in advance, and the final report must be accepted by your manager and the IHRDC mentor before credit is received.
