PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Explains commonly used log analysis techniques and formulas. Demonstrates the use of logging tools to evaluate porosity, lithology and saturation. Presents computer applications, methods and models and combines the various tools and measurements in a concluding case study.
BACKGROUND LEARNING:
Complete the following IPIMS.ep Background Learning courses:
  1. Well Log Interpretation
  2. Dipmeter Surveys
  3. Borehole Imaging
ACTION LEARNING:
Complete the following simulated job assignments:
  1. Well Log Interpretation - Determine reservoir rock properties using well log analysis.
     
  2. Petrophysical Model Updating - Update the petrophysical model of the reservoir.
     
RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT:

Submit a short (3 to 5 page) original paper of publishable quality devoted to some aspect of Well Log Interpretation. Include one or more recommendations for applying technology, better operating practices or improved business practices within your company. Alternatively, you may prepare a research report summarizing recent developments in technology, business or management practices, with references, that will be of interest to your management. Your IHRDC mentor must approve the assignment topic in advance, and the final report must be accepted by your manager and the IHRDC mentor before credit is received.
