PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Provides an overview of major systems used in wireline logging, and shows how a typical logging job is planned, mobilized, and implemented. Presents the commonly used logging tools and their characteristics and functions. Examines the interaction of rocks and fluids in both static and dynamic situations.
BACKGROUND LEARNING:
Complete the following IPIMS.ep Background Learning courses:
  1. Formation Evaluation Overview
  2. Logging Equipment and Procedures
  3. Well Logging Tools and Techniques
ACTION LEARNING:
Complete the following simulated job assignments:
  1. Wireline Well Logging - Select and apply the appropriate well logging tools for a particular set of well conditions and reservoir study parameters.
     
  2. Well Log Quality Control - Validate the quality of information supplied by the logging service company to ensure that the data can be used in generating a petrophysical reservoir model.
     
RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT:

Submit a short (3 to 5 page) original paper of publishable quality devoted to some aspect of Open Hole Logging Methods. Include one or more recommendations for applying technology, better operating practices or improved business practices within your company. Alternatively, you may prepare a research report summarizing recent developments in technology, business or management practices, with references, that will be of interest to your management. Your IHRDC mentor must approve the assignment topic in advance, and the final report must be accepted by your manager and the IHRDC mentor before credit is received.
